Challenge Cup – Missing Info
I’m still missing some information, mainly the dates of fixtures that I know the result of. I also have some questions around missing fixtures.
- Missing the date of the abandoned semi final between Barwell and Coalville Town.
- Missing the result of the first round tie between Friar Lane & Epworth and Ellistown due to take place on the 8th November. Ellistown went through to the next round so I’m assuming they won or it was a walkover.
- I think I am missing another first round tie, possibly involving either Holwell Sports or Leicester City.
- Missing the dates of all the first round ties.
- The dates of three of the quarter finals.
- The dates of both semi finals.
- Missing the dates or all matches apart from the final.
- Unsure of the reason why Thringstone went through from the first round as the result was 5 – 1 to Coalville Town.
- Missing the dates of all matches.
- I’m unsure why there isn’t a result for the quarter final between Oadby Town and Leicester City (I sourced the results from this season from the Non-League Club Directory 2002).
- Missing the date of the quarter final between Leicester City and Ibstock Welfare.
- Missing the dates of both semi finals.
- Missing the dates of the first round ties between Friar Lane Old Boys and Oadby Town, and Holwell Sports vs St. Andrews. Also missing the date of the first round replay between Oadby Town and Friar Lane Old Boys.
- Missing the date of the quarter final between Kirby Muxloe and Ibstock Welfare.
- Missing the date and venue of the semi final between Oadby Town and Ibstock Welfare.
- Missing the date of the first round tie between Friar Lane Old Boys and Birstall United.
- Missing the date of the semi final between Leicester City and St. Andrews.
- Missing the date of the original first round tie and also the replay between St. Andrews and Birstall United.
- Missing the date of the quarter final between Lutterworth Town and Leicester City.
- Missing the date of the quarter final between Leicester City and Birstall United.
- I think I’m missing a quarter final tie involving Wigston Fields, unless they received a bye.
- I’m missing the result of the semi final between Oadby Town and Loughborough College, due to have been played on 3rd April 1965. Oadby Town went through to the final so I’m assuming they won or they had a walkover.
- I’m missing the result of the semi final between Anstey Nomads and Loughborough College which was due to have been played on 31st March 1962. Loughborough College went through to the final.
- Missing the result of the semi final between Loughborough United and Anstey Nomads, due to have been played on 25th February 1961. This was the only semi final as Hinckley Athletic received a bye to the final.
- Missing the date and the result of the first round tie between Whitwick Colliery and Hinckley Athletic. This does appear to have been played as there is a report of Hinckley Athletic players being unavailable for a Senior Cup match due to having played Whitwick in the Challenge Cup, but I could find nothing in the Hinckley Times newspapers (maybe because Whitwick Colliery won !)
