Founded 1931.

Originally called the Loughborough & District Amateur Football Alliance the league was formed in 1931 at a time when there were two other Loughborough based leagues.

The Loughborough & District Football League and the Loughborough & District Sunday School League soon disbanded which meant that the Loughborough Alliance became the top junior league around Loughborough.

The league has run for every season since formation apart from 1941/42 which due to the war did not go ahead.

For the start of the 1972/73 season the league changed it's constitution so that no team who's first team was in another junior league could field a reserve team in the Loughborough Alliance. It was also decided to change it's name to the North Leicestershire Football League.

The league continued to grow and in the 1975/76 season it gained most of the teams from the disbanded Coalville & District League.

The area now covered by the league has expanded from the original Loughborough roots to go as far as Melton Mowbray in the East, Swadlincote in the West, Birstall in the South and Kegworth in the North.
